Top Ten Tuesday- My 2024-2025 Winter TBR

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

This week’s prompt: Books on My Winter 2024-2025 to-Read List

I might have more than ten! We will see at the end since I didn’t bother counting. Lol.

First up, the middle grade picks.

Caddie Woodlawn and Heidi! Two different tales of two different girls, but both are classic. I can’t believe I haven’t read either of them before.

Then two modern reads, Ghosts of Greenglass House and Dead Voices. I can’t wait to dive into these two. I have both of them at the top of my list!

A couple nonfiction reads:

The Book of the Barn Owl, A Mudlarking Year, and Wolfish. I just think these three books look interesting. Not really much more to add there!

A few witchy reads, because I love a good witchy story.

The Woodsmoke Women’s Book of Spells and Witchcraft for Wayward Girls. The Grady Hendrix is going to be a scary horror read, I know it but I think the Rachel Greenlaw book is less scary and more… fantasy, romance, and magical realism.

I will definitely need some cozy fantasy as well.

I have both The Crescent Moon Tearoom and This Will be Fun waiting on my shelf! I got one for my birthday and the other at a really cool book store in Cleveland on a trip.

And of course, I will need something atmospheric and creepy, something soothing, and maybe some academia.

I really have high hopes for Darcy Coates. I have so many of her books marked to read, but I am going to start with Dead of Winter, hopefully. And I love soothing healing fiction like Days at the Morisaki Bookshop, another birthday book that is on my shelf, along with A Study in Drowning. I actually have one of those cool versions of the Ava Reid book, with sprayed edges. I want to try to collect more of those this year, they are just so pretty!

And there we have it! I am sure this list will change as the weeks go on. I am not good at sticking to a reading plan, as I am a mood reader. As of now though, this is what I am hoping to read in the next few months!

  1. Great list! I’ve always been curious about Arden’s MG spooky books but I’m such a scaredy that even those books do creep me out. 🤭 Dead Voices in particular looks like the creepiest of the bunch, haha. I’ve got A Study in Drowning on my TBR and I hope to get to it next year at least. I hope you enjoy all of these books and happy reading!

  2. I remember Heidi and Caddie both being engaging and interesting reads – but that was aggggggges ago 🙂 It’s so fun to go back and read/reread as adults though, and I hope you enjoy them both!

Woodsmoke was good – definitely not scary, very atmospheric and lovely, lovely writing.

We’ve got a couple overlapping hopefuls 🙂 Happy cozy reading!

    1. I love middle grade. I just can’t help it. Lol. I am looking forward to them both!

Ooo I am so glad to hear that about Woodsmoke. I am just going to keep it on my TBR until I actually read it because I really want to.

Thanks Rebecca! Cheers to all our reading in the new year!

  3. I used to like the older Heidi movies but I don’t know if I’ve ever read it… I should someday just because classic! 🙂 Also, I’ve seen Dead of Winter a few times and it sure looks like an ideal winter mystery. 🙂 Hope you enjoy these all and thanks for visiting my list today!

  4. I need to add Heidi to my list … you always have cool looking books on your list. I do need to try a couple of them. I often think they won’t be my taste but I might be surprised. I know I have in the past couple of years when I tried books other people suggested and I just thought wouldn’t be for me.

    1. Lol! I like to mix it up. You never know until you try something if you will like it or not! Or that is what I tell Wyatt at least. Lol. I think you might like the translated fiction, some of the Japanese/Korean books I have been reading. The Korean books are called healing fiction, and they are just calming good reads.

    1. Lol!! I will remember but then be like, nah I don’t want to read that now, and then go off and read something completely different. Lol. I had to cut out ARCs because I was doing not doing well reading them, for just that reason. Thank you, you too!

      1. I always like to have a range going as well. Especially when I’m reading an ebook, print book, and audiobook, I try to make sure they’re all different genres so I don’t get mixed up.

  6. I’m a big fan of the cozy fantasy genre right now and really want to read Caddie Woodlawn. I really liked Greenglass House but wasn’t as big of a fan of Ghosts of Greenglass House but I think it might have been the mood I was in. I look forward to seeing your thoughts on it.
