Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing well! It’s crazy to think we are eleven days into August already. This summer is flying by! I can feel autumn in the air this weekend; we had the windows open all day yesterday and it was wonderful. It has just been so muggy all summer that we haven’t really been able to do that, so it was nice to air everything all out!

I didn’t read much last week. I spent a lot of the week working on school or Cub Scout stuff. We are getting so close to September and then it will be go time! When I finally took a break I usually worked on my embroidery. I finished my cat and plants piece, and started a new one for fall! Wyatt’s been playing from sun up until sundown these days too, which is good. I love to see him getting involved in things and playing. I can’t wait for Billy to finish the wheelchair ramp so that we can have easier access to outside!

Reading This Week:

I did start both of these last week and I am enjoying them both quite a bit! I am hoping to finish them this week.

Posted Last Week:

Birthday at the Brasserie!

Top Ten Tuesday: Series Books

Wednesday Morning Coffee Catch Up

Back to School Basics: Homeschool Edition

Watching:

We are watching The Great British Sewing Bee at night when we finally collapse into bed. It is one of those calming shows, just like the Bake-Off. I usually watch a bit of YouTube too, when I first get into bed and start sewing. The people in my rotation these days are Randi Lynn Reed, Kristina at With Love, Kristina , and Ahya’s Cottage. So many online accounts everywhere are already introducing fall content which seems premature to me, but I get it. I am ready for the coziness of fall too.

And that’s it from me today! Enjoy your week everyone!

  1. The wheelchair ramp will really make a difference! I also can’t believe it’s this far into August already. Time is flying by, in spite of me being in a lot due to the heat. But I am reading quite a bit 🙂

    1. I can’t wait for the ramp to be done. It is going to change both of our lives so much!!

Isn’t it crazy how fast the summer went? We spent a lot of time indoors as well this year. We have also done a lot of reading lol. Thank goodness for books!

    1. I love fall so much, but I just can’t yet with the fall stuff. Even though I want it. Lol. It’s just too early for me. The Randi Lynn Reed video is I think appropriate; she talks about this is a weird in between time, which is exactly how I think of it too. The YouTubers I have seen pushing it are in the PNW and New England – maybe it is actually cooler there than here.

  2. My daughter started school last week. I am so ready for fall. It has been super hot and humid here as well. I have been reading more myself. I love reading about old fashioned living. Oh yes a wheelchair ramp will be so nice😊

    1. Fall will be such a relief I think. Hopefully at least! I like to read about old fashioned life and living as well, especially in middle grade children’s books for some reason. They are just so … calming. 🙂 I can’t wait for this ramp. It is going to change both of our lives so much!

  3. After we have been experiencing hot weather now since April, I can’t help envying you your cooler temps. I’d love to be able to open the windows, but we still have summer through August and September and most of October.

Good luck with getting your school and Cub Scout things prepared! It will be so much fun.

    1. I couldn’t believe it when I stepped outside on Saturday. It was cool! It wasn’t humid! It was breezy! I ran back in and threw open the windows. It was so nice. I remember my one trip to Texas – it was in July or August, and the hotel had signs in the windows telling us to keep the curtains closed during the day because of the heat! It was so hot out – we tried walking to a restaurant in the middle of the day and gave up. Our Michigan bodies were like no thanks. Lol.

  4. I’m glad you were able to open the windows for a little bit. I hate when it’s muggy. It makes the heat so much worse. Hopefully, it’ll keep cooling down so the temps are more manageable. Thanks for stopping by my blog!

It has been gorgeous here, and I should open the windows. But, it’s just enough warmer than inside that I keep them closed. I can’t wait to see the ramp and Wyatt playing in the backyard after going down it!

I love the Sewing Bee! It is such a wonderful way to end the day. I am always amazed at what they can accomplish in such a short amount of time!

I’ve been noticing lots of changeover to fall stuff too… even our weather is starting to have a hint of fall with cool mornings but I’m just not ready for that yet! I read The Rom-Commers this weekend and thought it was the cutest!

    1. I just saw a tree today that was half turned leaves and was like, fall is for sure on the way now! It was a chestnut tree, and I definitely remember picking up chestnuts on my way to school as a kid at the beginning of the year. I have heard good things about that book!

  7. It’s been cool for about a week here in central New York and I’m starting to see a few leaves fading here and there. I love summer so I’m not ready for this!

I just texted my sister about the Sewing Bee. I haven’t heard of it before. She loves to sew so that might be right up her alley.

I hope the wheelchair ramp is completed soon! It sounds like it will make a big difference for all of you!

    1. Oh no!!! Hopefully you get a little more summer!

It is such a fun show. The judges are just so sincere and genuine, and so are the people. We really love it!

And oh gosh me too! Lol. It will be so nice to actually go into the backyard again! Right now it is so hard for Wyatt and I to get out there during the day.

I enjoyed last week’s cooler temperatures too. It looks like the heat will be back for this week. I read and enjoyed Primer and Punishment and am glad you are enjoying it too. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

I like your blog Erin. Thx for stopping by mine. I think I’ve seen the Bookshop book around … a bit interested in that one. Hope you have a good week. What part of the country are you from? We avoid too hot weather too … and it’s already cooling off a bit here from July. 70s is about perfect. Hi to Wyatt.

    1. Thank you Susan! So many of the comments are going to spam for some reason so I am just now seeing this!

I am really enjoying the Bookshop book. It is a quiet, thoughtful book.

We are in Michigan! It is can be so nice here but today is so humid and gross!

      Thank you!

I get to look forward to another month and a half or so of summer like weather before the temperatures cool down, sadly. But school has started again for my daughter, which makes it feel like it should be fall. I hope you are enjoying your reading and week!

    1. Michigan can go either way. Sometimes we get a nice cool fall starting near the end of September, other times it can be so hot all the way until November. I am keeping my fingers crossed for cool this year!

I was also so bummed I couldn’t wear my new fall school clothes right away in September. Lol.

  11. I spent today at the pool so am not ready to even consider fall content just yet – and it won’t feel fall-ish until November anyway – so it’s a bit crazy to me to start seeing it though I think quite a bit of me is jealous of you guys who actually have a fall! Both of your books look really good! I enjoyed the Diane Kelly series. It’s a fun cozy. You asked if Will likes cats – he’s obsessed! He barely tolerated dogs which pains me quite a bit but would happily have a dozen cats. Have a great week!

    1. I am sweating here today so I can’t even think about it either! Lol. Sweaters, blankets, pumpkins… I can’t yet. But in September it is on, no matter the weather. Except the sweaters unless I drop the ac to freezing cold.

I just finished the Diane Kelly book and I loved it! It was so cute and I definitely worried about the dog in it! Sawdust too but that dog more.

Awww I love that he loves cats!!! Isn’t it funny what shakes out in kids? Wyatt is terrified of dogs, and I love them so much. He loves his fish. His fish. I have never liked fish but here I am with two tanks now…. lol. Well, if it makes him happy.

The weather this week has been so nice! 80s in the day and then down to the 50s at night. We’ve been opening our windows most of the summer, because even when it’s really hot it cools down well at night. I can’t believe August is about half over already! I’d like to see your embroidery projects. I’m sure they’re pretty. Do you frame and then hang them? Have a wonderful week, Erin!

    1. That does sound so perfect!

It is crazy to think that September is just right around the corner now. I can’t wait! Lol.

I don’t know what to do with them. I finished my first one a week ago or so, and it is sitting on my dresser. Framing it sounds like a fun idea! I know I want to display in my room somewhere. Right now I am working on a Halloween/fall piece – I am almost done and I will probably display it in the den where we sit. Next I am going to make one for my mom’s apartment. 🙂
