Hello everyone! It is a feels like temp of -18 here this morning, but it is so pretty outside. I keep calling it penguin weather to Wyatt, since we are spending the month learning about penguins. Perfect reading weather though!
What I am reading:

I loved the first Emily Wilde book and I am super excited about this one! And Billy and Wyatt bought me Winter for Christmas (along with a few other books) and it is perfect for before bed. It is made up of small short essays from various writers, which is just the length I need since I tend to just fall asleep pretty quickly at night, usually while reading. I am loving it!

Mary Oliver is one of my favorite poets, and this slim volume is absolutely beautiful, about her faith and creation and gratitude and nature. I am slowly going through it, as not to fly through them all too quickly.
Posted Last Week:

Jane Austen January: Movie Thoughts: Sense and Sensibility
Watching:
We have been watching the heck out of Lark Rise to Candleford. I am addicted, and so is Billy actually. It is just so well done. Every character and actor is so interesting and well acted – but our favorite two characters are Queenie and Twister.

We also are watching our Jane Austen movies for Jane Austen January! Tonight we will be watching the Kiera Knightley Pride and Prejudice.
And that is it from me today! How are you all doing?
I’m hoping to read the new Emily Wilde book in a month or so. I hope you will report back to us about it soon.
Anything Mary Oliver writes is bound to be good.

I like the idea of Penguin weather, it’s a great description. My son just looked out the window and said, “Snow is pretty when it is undisturbed.” So true. The sun is shining on it, making it sparkle, LOL! Have a great week.

Your son is right! I love to look out at the snow when it is still all new and hasn’t been disturbed. Very peaceful.

It’s penguin weather here too! It’s making me unmotivated, so I’ve been watching way too much TV.

It’s hard to stay motivated in this weather! I just want to be lazy and lay under blankets. Lol.

Brr! That is cold! We should be getting some cold weather this week but not quite that cold.

I just finished the new Emily Wilde book and have a review this week. They are so charming and fun. I really enjoyed them both. The UK covers are amazing. I hope you can stay warm. This week is getting colder here so I will be going out less and maybe covering some plants.

Oh good, I am glad to hear that you liked the second one! I am really looking forward to it. It is beyond cold here… I refuse to go outside for more than five minutes. Lol.

We watched it last night and still just as beautiful as the first time I watched it. I had forgotten how much I did like it, honestly. It is definitely penguin weather here… sad to say. Lol.

It is frigid here, too. I just finished We Were Liars, and I definitely didn’t see the ending coming. We also finished the series, A Murder at the End of the World…very different. It’s supposed to stay cold this week so we will stay in most of the time!
Have a fun week, Erin!

This weather is insanely cold. I am considering calling Wyatt off of therapy tomorrow – we have such a long drive there and back and the cold actually makes his muscles tighter. We will see what the weather brings. I plan on staying inside as much as possible too! Lol.
Thanks Marsha, and stay warm!

Penquin weather. So funny – they’d be more fun to look at than our dead trees right now.
I hope to get to Mary Oliver at some point soon. I need more time in the day! Or to be online less and reading a book more.

Yeah it would be kind of neat to look outside and see a penguin this week!

I saw on the news this weekend that the recent bad weather in the Northeast has blown some dovekies, which are usually Arctic birds, as far south as South Carolina. Wildlife rescues on the coast of the Carolinas have sent out notices to look out for these “little penguins” (they do kind of look like that, and that’s why I’m sharing this) and get them to help as soon as possible. I hope it turns out okay for these little guys!
Winter sounds like something I would enjoy. I don’t think I’ve ever read any of Mary Oliver’s poetry but I see her mentioned fairly often on book blogs. I need to correct my oversight. Enjoy your week!
