We actually had activities on our calendar this week, two days in a row! On Friday we took a little trip to the pumpkin patch and on Saturday, we had our Wild Hunt, a little treasure hunt in the wild that Billy and I organized. Both were so much fun! I am planning a post on our Wild Hunt for midweek, and I am so excited to talk about it. We were also supposed to go to the library’s curbside trick-or-treat but Wyatt was pretty worn out and had fallen asleep so we missed it. I guess we are not used to doing so many things anymore! I also made bread last week, something I had on my bucket list! Check that box off! Now to keep it up. I also started prepping for Nonfiction November!

Read Last Week:

I had planned on reading The Once and Future Witches but for some reason the digital download would never work! It was very frustrating. I ended up reading The Haunting of Brynn Wilder, which I think was one of the free Amazon Prime Reads for the month. It was a little meh for me – enough to keep me reading but I felt like I kept waiting for the haunting to happen but it was a different sort of haunting and it felt very anti-climatic to me. I never really bought the relationship between the two main characters either, unfortunately.

Reading This Week:

I am looking forward to this one! I usually love Kelley Armstrong and my husband and I are mini-book clubbing this one together. I am reading it, he is listening to it. It has been a while since we have done this so I am excited.

A Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

Spooky, Creepy, Dark and Twisty: My October Podcast List

Watching:

I can’t believe this, but we are watching Father Brown again. We just haven’t found a replacement for it yet. We are also watching Sherlock, which we are LOVING, My Dream Farm with Monty Don, Unsolved Mysteries Season 2, the Great British Baking Show, and I really want to try The Haunting of Bly Manor although I am nervous to start it because although I can read scary things, and listen to scary things, I am a wimp when watching scary things. And we are heading into the Halloween home stretch now, woohoo! Our Halloween is going to be different this year, but still fun. Chrissy is planning a little mini party, social distanced, for our kids that will have pre-made treat bags, pumpkin painting, Halloween Bingo, and hopefully a pinata, if Billy can pull it off!

Have a safe and fun week everyone!

  1. I really must watch Father Brown! It is on my Britbox queue…and I am always looking for new shows to binge-watch.

I can almost smell that bread, which looks so delicious!

Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog. Have a great week.

  2. Doesn’t your Wild Hunt sound like fun?

And look at that bread. Why would you ever buy bread again.

I hope you are able to get Once and Future Witches. I’d like to hear what you think about it.

We are taking Great British Baking Show slowly. I enjoy it so much, and I’m so glad there’s a new season, that I don’t want to be finished with it too soon.

    Have a good week!

    1. It was so fun honestly. The kids really loved it.

And thanks! It turned out really nicely! And I loved it toasted with tea in the morning.

I know, I really want to read it!!

I know, it is hard to not want to devour them all up but Netflix at least is forcing us to go slowly – it’s now our Friday night show. Lol.

  3. I love Sherlock ! And must watch Father Brown, too, but it’s really hard to watch and read everything I want. I’m watching Ghosts, the BBC series, which is really funny and perfect for Halloween. Have a great week and stay safe 🙂 PS : your bread makes me hungry !

    1. Lol it totally is!! I always think that when I get a little free time. I am like why can’t I read and listen to this podcast and watch something all at once? I mean I guess I could but I wouldn’t get much out of it.

Thanks!! It was so good toasted!

      Thanks you too!

    1. I have no idea what our deal is with Father Brown. LOL. I think it is just light hearted and sort of quiet at night, and both fit our needs to just decompress. Lol.

I am looking forward to starting the Kelley Armstrong! It is a gloomy day today, the perfect day to begin it.

  4. Sounds like wonderful activities! And a fun week all together. We finally started this latest season of The Great British Bake Off and are really liking it. It’s such a nice show. Bly Manor is tempting me but I just stopped having nightmares from Hill House (and could probably restart them if I think about some of the stuff that was in that show) and I saw Bly Manor was from the same people. It was amazing though so I might brave it soon. Have a wonderful week!

  6. That Haunting one from Prime…I was wondering if that one was any good. That’s disappointing. Not sure if I’ll pick it up now!

That bread looks super yummy. Congrats! I’m going to try to make beer and cheddar rolls Wednesday. We shall see…

Yes to watching the Haunting of Bly Manor. It’s spooky but not super scary. It’s got a great story. I’d give it a go! I’m also loving Great British Baking Show and the Halloween Bake Off on the Food Network.

Stay safe and have a lovely week.

    1. I wish I could recommend it more.It was not scary or thrilling at all, more .. thoughtful and reminiscent, I guess? I am not sure how to explain it. Not like a ghost story in my mind, at all.

Oo good luck with your rolls! That sounds awesome!

Ok, we will try it! Thanks for letting me know!!

I love Father Brown too, Erin. I’ll have a think and see if I can come up with any other similar series.
The bread looks yummy, it’s been ages since I’ve made any. Once you’ve made your first loaf there’s no going back! 😉

    1. I love that show! Lol. I love how easy it is too watch – it is just the right blend of mystery and lighthearted – I guess just cozy! 🙂 Thank you in advance!

We have a few baking projects for this week but I am looking forward to making bread again. Hopefully it does become just something we do weekly. 🙂
