My Sunday-Monday Post!

My Sunday Post is hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

Sunday Salon is hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date

We have had a very French-centric week around our house, with Wyatt’s new unit of study. It’s been fun! I also had TWO social distancing social dates (outdoors only), both Friday and Saturday night. Friday night with my tribe of ladies and it was a much needed night for all of us, then Saturday we went to my brother’s house and just sat around and chatted for really the first time since February. I have missed that so much! We stayed apart but were able to talk together and it felt so normal and nice. I missed hugging my little niece but I could at least talk to her in person. These moments will get us through! We are also super obsessed with our gecko that we added into the family last weekend, and have really been playing around with her enclosure, decorating. (we are fairly certain Harry is a girl)

Read Last Week:

I had hoped to finish up The Masterpiece but I am still working away on it. It is good, but I am in a nonfiction mood these past few weeks so I am having a difficult time sticking with it. I’ll finish it though, before the month is through! (maybe..)

Reading this Week:

I am super excited to start 100 Things to do in a Forest. We stay out of our favorite woods this time of year, too many mosquitoes and they love my husband, but we will be venturing back in again in the fall.

Posted Last Week:

Book Review: Adventuring Together

Homeschooling, Summer Edition: France Part 1

Watching:

This week we have been watching Father Brown, Cursed, and Picard. Then for our movie nights we watched The Suspiscions of Mr. Whicher on Friday, then Radioactive Saturday. (both on Amazon) Radioactive was amazing. The movie was so well done honestly, I definitely recommend it.

Listening:

To a lot of true crime podcasts. I am doing way more listening than reading these days. I have been making my way through Redhanded and Crime Files – I actually committed to being a Patron of Redhanded lol. I love that podcast, it is so good! (Thank you What’s Nonfiction for that suggestion way back in November)

And that is about it from our little burrow. Stay safe everyone!

  1. I still haven’t had any face to face contacts with friends or family, although I’ve enjoyed some uplifting phone calls that made me feel better. I am glad you had yours.

Our lockdown restrictions are back, so no more dining room. I was starting to enjoy it!

But…in my apartment, I can relax while I eat, so there’s that.

Enjoy your week and your books.

    1. I am glad that we have the ability to call and video chat with our families and friends. We video chat my mom every night, I know she misses Wyatt so much. She is babysitting my niece for my brother four days a week and they are in as much isolation as possible to keep everyone safe, as are we. For a family that saw each other all the time, this is so hard. We do visit with the distancing and outside so we can all see each other at least somewhat. Our governor extended the state of emergency over our living facilities as well – no visitors still, none since March. I am glad that you have found ways to keep yourself content and happy. 🙂

  2. I should get Prime. I’m really interested in Radioactive. It sounds like a fun, porductive week. I finished Murder in Suburbia on Acorn, which is a fun series. Lightweight mysteries but fun and “Louisa” from “Doc Martin” is in it. And the current “Grantchesters” from PBS. “Endeavour” returns tonight!

    1. I loved it. It was so well done. They would blend seamlessly from Curie’s time to other historic events, like Chernobyl, atomic bomb testing, and it all just worked together so well. Definitely a favorite so far this year.

I love lightweight mysteries, especially British ones… lol. I will have to look up Murder in Suburbia!

  3. Oh I’m so glad you liked that podcast so much! What’s their Patreon content like? They’ve been posting some of their Patreon episodes during lockdown over the last few months but I’m curious what the rest of it is like.

    1. I haven’t had too much time to explore it fully, but I get email updates and patron only content. I just got a new patron only podcast this morning! For $10 bucks a month I was like why not, for a while. Lol. And I do love it! I am so glad I learned about it from you!

  4. It’s great that you were able to get in a couple of social distancing outdoor dates. Whatever you can do I’m sure helps you get through this. Radioactive sounds good. I’ll have to check it out. I hope you have a great week!

    1. It was so nice to see my friends, and get out of the house. My son and I spend most of our time around the house – he has medical challenges so we really keep isolated as much as we can. So it was nice to see other people! He enjoyed seeing his family as well, although he couldn’t interact with them in the same way.

  5. I’ve done a few social distancing meetups on the front porch or in friends’ and families’ front yards in the past few months, but it is really Zoom that dominates my social calendar. I’m glad you were able to enjoy time outside with others. I miss people so much.

I’ve been listening to some videos on CreativeBug and exercises on Rosetta Stone and some podcasts on On Being this week. They are uplifting so that’s helpful.

I love the look of 100 Things to Do in a Forest. I seem to do better right now with nonfiction, too. I had hoped to read a Zola book during July, but it hasn’t happened. I think I shall go back to Mood-Boosting Books after July is over.

Maybe we will try Radioactive. Thanks for the recommendation.

    1. We do way more zoom too – but it was so nice to get out! My friends are trying to encourage me to venture out a bit more but I am not ready. I have to think about my kiddo – I can do the hard things and stay home and endure for him. 🙂

I really need to watch some things like that. I am sure I would love them. I will pass them on to my mom too!

My reading is too scattered from being distracted with COVID to really commit to anything right now – the Zola might take me forever but I am going to finish it, by golly. Lol.

      Radioactive was excellent!

    1. Thanks Anne!! It was nice to get out for a few hours – I spend about 99% of my time at home too – mostly with my five year old, which is probably why I needed a little break so badly. LOL. I’m such an introvert that being home doesn’t really bother me too much either. 🙂

      Stay safe! 🙂

  6. That’s awesome you got some visiting time this past week. It’s so hard not being able to see people! Glad it was a good week.

100 Things To Do In A Forest sounds great. I needed that book last week haha!

    Thanks for the movie recs!

Socially distanced socializing feels like a gift when we’ve done without face to face for so long. Glad you had a nice visit. I need to check out Radioactive. Haven’t heard of it, but I have Amazon Prime so I should check it out. Happy reading and thank you for visiting my Sunday Post! 🙂
