Phew, it was a a busy two weeks! I had a good time but I am so ready to finally get totally back into our normal routine. I love the holidays but they are also exhausting lol. I am not a go-go-go person and I had a very go-go-go two weeks. We did get a hike in Saturday morning, which was very chilly after the warm weather we have been having but it was great to get outside together. New Year’s Eve my brother’s family came over for a low key celebration and it was so nice – we had soup and bread and cake, the kids played, we listened to music and chatted. It was a good time. The in between days we had little get togethers with people which were fun as well. But tomorrow, we go back to our normal lives – school, work, chores, etc. However, I am getting together with my sister-in-law Chrissy to have coffee and strudel and look at seed catalogs together. I am very excited to get planning!

Read Last Week:

I didn’t manage to finish anything! I did start three books though – I was a bit scattered and all over the place. I am halfway through both of these though, and will be done with The Secret Life of the Owl today, and probably will finish Winterwood tomorrow. So I am counting them in last week, since I won’t really be reading them this week.

Reading This Week:

I am keeping it light and easy this week, just what I need.

Watching:

We were in a funk after finishing Shetland, but thank goodness Netflix came through! We have been watching Lost in Space Season 2 and starting last night, Anne with an E.

  1. You had a busy Christmas season– bet your little boy loved it. We had a low-key time with adult kids visiting. I’ve been using the downtime to cozy up with a book and have a couple going now.

Are you going to plant flowers or vegetables? I grew vegetables for the first time last year from small plants but put them in too late and really only the tomatoes gave us a bumper crop. This year the bell peppers need to go in right after the frost is over.

Have a good week with your family.

    1. We were so busy! It was fun though, and Wyatt did enjoy himself! Lol. I can’t wait to get some more time to read though.

We are going to plant a small amount of vegetables and then lots of flowers. Years ago, before Wyatt we had a fairly large garden – we had to downsize after he was born since we just didn’t have time! This is the first year we are going to try to do more vegetables again, but I have fallen in love with all the flowers now so, we are adding more of those too! We always do terrible with tomatoes although I keep trying. 🙂

      Thanks Cleo!

I hope things return to normal for you soon! I am not exactly a go go go mom either, although I feel like I’ve been forced into that role much of the year. LOL With my mom being that kind of person and her here for two weeks, it can be hard when I have time to crash and do nothing without feeling guilty–but I did. I’m so proud of myself. Haha. I did have to go to work still, but that wasn’t so bad since things weren’t terribly busy.

Such pretty books! I hope you are enjoying them. I haven’t finished anything yet this year either. I doubt today will be the day, unfortunately, but I am enjoying my reading and that’s what counts.

I hope you have a great week!

    1. Oh my gosh right? I feel like I am always running around! I try to build in days of nothing if I can so that we can recharge or my son and I have a hard time. My super extrovert husband has no problem with a go go lifestyle though. Lol.

Haha yes! You should absolutely let yourself crash and do nothing without guilt! Although I get it! It seems like there is always something that needs to be done.

      Have a great week!!

  3. I finally finished a book. Ha! Things have been so all over the place with trying to sell the house so I’m too tired at night to read and too busy during the day. This week we get back to our routines, as well, and don’t have any showings scheduled so hopefully things will slow down a bit. I’ll have a similar post up later today. I decided to join Sunday Salon, even though I’m not really a “book blogger” since I don’t read as many books as others. Also, I agree with you about not being a “go-go-go” person. I’m not and this past week we were and my nerves are feeling the effects. I’m praying for a bit of respite this upcoming week.

    1. Yay!! Some weeks it takes some time to get reading in! And you have a lot on your plate right now! My anxiety honestly has been terrible the past few weeks and I know that it is because I am running around so much – I need my routine too, just like Wyatt. Lol. I hope you get the respite you need as well this week.

  4. I am not a go-go-go person either. I am also not good at saying no, so sometimes I feel overloaded. I had a principal one time who told me, “You cause your own difficulties,” when she saw how much I was trying to do. It hurt me for her to say that, but what she said was very true.

I’m curious about The Secret Life of the Owl. The cover is striking. I hope you are enjoying it.

    Have a wonderful week, Erin.

    1. Saying no can be so hard! I have learned to some extent when to say no to a thing, although I have a lot of guilt over it sometimes. We were supposed to go to a big family gathering with my whole family on New Year’s Day, and I decided we weren’t going. We just couldn’t do another event, it wasn’t in us. It was hard though to make that choice!

I love that cover too – gorgeous! I did enjoy it – it is very short and full of owly goodness. 🙂

  5. I am looking forward to getting back to normal routines too. The holidays are awesome but yes, they can be exhausting too! In a good way though. 🙂

Agh Shetland- I still have to watch the latest season. I keep forgetting. 😦

    Winterwood looks quite good!

  6. We still have our holiday stuff out. We decorate late, so leave it up at least until Jan. 6th, usually. Am just trying to get back to more blogging and reading this week. I listened to a lot of audiobooks over the holidays, while cooking and doing housework, etc., but didn’t get much time to sit down and read. Also, just got Game of Thrones Season 8 on DVD from the library, and we started binge-watching that after New Year’s!

    1. We decorated really early this year! We usually wait until after Thanksgiving but this year we did it the weekend before. Probably part of the reason I was ready to pack it up. Lol. I really need to listen to more audiobooks. It might make cleaning more fun! And oh yes – GoT requires that binge time! So good!
