Last week was busy but fun, as I am sure yours was as well! Thanksgiving was hosted by my brother this year, and it was their first time hosting such a large gathering. They did a fantastic job – everyone had fun, and it was so relaxed. Perfection. On Friday we headed to the woods for a walk, opting outside, although we did stop in one store because I wanted to this specific wrapping paper I had seen there earlier. I have no idea why, but a gift wrap with serious faced farm animals wearing Santa hats just tickled me enough that I had to go back for it. Lol. The rest of the weekend we kind of bummed around, finish up our decorating, and basically just hung out together. To quote the Okee Dokee Brothers “we were busy doing nothing on our lazy day. ” It was really nice.
I think I was a little overambitious about how much reading I was going to get done on a short week, although I did manage to finish two books, neither non-fiction though. I did make it through nonfiction November and I loved it. So glad I participated but right now I apparently can read about one nonfiction book a month. Maybe I can bump that up a bit in the coming year.
Read Last Week:
Alone in the Wild was FABULOUS!! I love this series so much, and it just keeps getting better. So good! And then feeling festive I moved on to Christmas at Rosie Hopkins’ Sweet Shop, which I also adored. This simple seeming little book actually moved me to tears – twice! I love a good Christmas book and I loved this one.
Reading This Week:
I’m getting a little crazy here again. I will probably more than likely only finish one of these, but I am starting all three. The Call of the Wild and Free will be a slow read for me, that I will read all month long. Anyway, I am getting excited about reading Christmas and holiday themed books! They are so happy usually, and I like that at the holidays.

Nonfiction November Week 5 – New to My TBR
What Wyatt’s Reading – November
Watching:
We are still watching Criminal Minds, and we started Shetland on Britbox, which I am addicted to. We are also watching reruns of the Great British Bake Off as Wyatt requests them. Lol. Wyatt is also enjoyed Scout and the Gumboot Kids and Daisy and the Gumboot Kids on Amazon Prime. I have wishing and hoping they would become available to us (they are Canadian) and finally they are!
What is going on with you all?
These look like some good books! I am going to add them to my list to check out! We are waiting for a snowstorm here and then we have a showing for our house on Wednesday so it’s a busy week for us here too! I hope things slow down a little bit for you!

Yikes! I saw that snowstorm on the news. I hope you are keeping warm and cozy!
I loved the Rosie Hopkins book. There is a previous book about her, but the author kindly sums it up in the beginning of this one. Lol. But I loved that one as well. Actually, I just love all of Jenny Colgan’s books. 🙂 They all take place in England and Scotland, you might enjoy them as well!
Good luck with your house showing!

I do enjoy books in England and Scotland and I figure it’s because most of my ancestors were from those places! We are definitely inside for the storm. Yesterday it was sleet and freezing rain and ice and over night the snow fell so there is beautiful snow on the trees this morning. We are supposed to get up to 15 inches but I just looked on the roof out our bedroom window and there is only about five now and this is supposed to tapper off by evening so I would guess we only get about 10.

Mine too!!! Maybe that is why. I love them too! And yikes! 15 inches sounds like a crazy amount of snow at one time. But I think our weird freak snowstorm petered out at like 10 already this year. It’s going to be a snowy winter I think.

Looks like we have only about 8 or 10 at this point, so we didn’t get what they were calling for in the end. It’s still a big mess out there. We might get two more inches tonight, but not sure.

What a wonderful week for you! I love the image of that whimsical wrapping paper.
Enjoy your week, and I remember loving Shetland a while back. I’ll have to check if there are new episodes.

It sounds like your Thanksgiving was perfect. Some people know how to host a gathering where everyone feels comfortable and has a good time.
At this time of year expecting to read much at all is a real stretch. There’s so much expected of us. I try to keep my expectations low right now. Yet hopeful.
I hope you have a lovely week. Let me know if any of your holiday reads are worthy.

It really was such a nice day. We were supposed to get there later in the day, it was potluck, and it was all very easy and relaxed. 🙂
That’s a good way to put it! Keep the expectations low but remain hopeful. Lol. I guess that is where I am at right now as well.
Thanks you too!

When you can describe a Thanksgiving as “perfection,” that is…well..perfection. Ours might not have been perfect, but it was very good.
Like you, I average about one nonfiction book a month most years. I think, to be honest, I’m just going to keep trying that. To be honest, my reading has slowed down a lot the last few years, but I’m okay with that. I think I’m being very selective with what I choose to read and always allowing myself to give up on a book if it’s not working for me

I am glad that you had a great holiday!
I think I am going to attempt it as a year thing – where now I read like 12 a year, I am going to see if I can squeeze in maybe one or two more. For the most part though, my “reading plan” is to just read what I feel like reading. 🙂 And like you I allow myself to not finish a book if I am not enjoying it. 🙂

Glad you had a great Thanksgiving! Ours was nice too, very relaxing, and those are the best kind really. 🙂
I can’t wait to read Alone in the Wild. And I really liked Shetland. I think I still have a season to watch.

That series is so good! The Rockton series feels so original to me right now. And it was! 🙂

I’m not quite sure how you are pulling off the reading but good for you! Seems like I’ve been stuck on the same (good) book for too long!

Yeah me either! LOL. No, I’ve gotten a pretty good routine down I think – I read a lot in my car while I am waiting to pick up Wyatt, and then while he is therapy, which is three hours a week. And then on therapy days, he is zonked out so he naps and I have been reading then. But ask me how much other stuff is getting done….lololol.

I had a slow reading week too. I’m frankly surprised I finished as many as I did. My weekly update

It was my first year participating and I loved it! I am sort of new to nonfiction, so I added quite a few to my list!

I’m a little spotty at reading nonfiction, too – even though I love nonfiction November! Your Christmas books look cute and happy! I’m going to try to check out at least one Christmas book this year to really get into the holiday spirit!

I’m in the mood for some holiday reads too. I started a modern day romance anthology today and it’s been good reading so far. Your Thanksgiving sounded like a wonderful gathering with your loved ones. It came and went too fast for me this year.
