We had such a fun filled week last week! We took a midweek break, and headed out for a walk in the marsh, which we followed up with bakery fresh pepperoni rolls as big as Wyatt’s head. Seriously. Lol. We also planted a cherry tree for Arbor Day, and while walking around the garden center, impulsively bought two blueberry bushes! An impulse buy I can totally live with. I can’t wait for this stuff to grow up and begin to bear fruit. I am not sure how long for the blueberry bushes but I am sure our tree will take a year or two, if it is anything like our apple tree. We also did a few other really cool things, including checking out the Tin Can Tourists that rolled into town with their vintage campers. I took so many photos that I am turning it into a blog post! Anyone else in love with old vintage campers?

Read Last Week:

I stuck to my plan! I finished my book club book Bohemian, which I loved although it’s been a long while since I read a romance novel like this one. Lol. I am a total setting junkie and this book, set in Big Sur at an old bookstore named The Mad Ones for all the Beat poets and authors that used to hang out there was like a setting dream come true. Plus all the literary name dropping! And I am part way through Bonavere Howl, another book I chose for the setting – if a book says New Orleans, I usually at least pick it up and give it a whirl.

Reading This Week:

It’s time for my annual reread of my favorite book Watership Down!! I am also finishing up Bonavere Howl, and reading Bohemian reminded me of how much I love Mary Oliver, so I am paging through some of her poetry again this week.

  2. I love vintage campers, so fun and nostalgia-y to look at! I like any camper show in general though, even newer ones… I can dream haha! And blueberry bushes- how cool! I love fresh picked blueberries- we used to pick them for my grandma up north in the summer. she’s send us out in the woods with a basket haha.

    I’m glad you all enjoyed the mini break; it really recharges the batteries, doesn’t it?!
    I haven’t read Watership Down but the film made me blubber like a baby.

      I love the book so much (obviously lol). The original cartoon movie scared the crap out of me. I am not a fan of the new Netflix one, simply because I have read this book too many times and they took too many liberties. Lol.

  8. I think I will look for Bohemian. That is one of my favorite time periods to read about.

    It’s lovely that you reread Watership Down every year. It’s a wonderful story, with such great characters. It’s on the list of the 1001 Children’s Books You Should Read (in the YA category), as well it should be.

    It sounds like you are having a great time outside, planting trees and blueberry bushes. I’d like to have some fruit trees. It would be great to grow our own oranges and lemons. We have a nice strawberry patch in our garden, but I’m not sure blueberries grow well this far south.

    1. Bohemian was good! Although, it is a modern day romance with sexytimes in it that would jar me out of the rest of the read. I am not used to reading romance and there would be a scene that to me was out of place but .. it was still good.

      Watership Down is my favorite book of all time. 🙂 One of my good friends told me that her brother read it to her as a child using different voices and an English accent, which I thought was a great memory for her to have. 🙂

      I am super excited for all of our trees and bushes to bear fruit! I know it will be some time, but it will be worth it. 🙂 I try to grow strawberries but I am never successful. I do have a strawberry plant called Old North Sea variety, from Baker Creek seeds, that was found in the remains of an old viking village or something like that. It actually stayed green all winter! It was crazy. I wonder if there is a particular variety that would work better in the south? I wish I could grow lemons! That would be awesome!

  10. What a wonderful week! Do blueberries grow on bushes like raspberries? I somehow thought they grew on the ground more like strawberries, guess not. I’d love to have fruit trees in the yard.

    1. We did have a nice week! Yes, they grow on bushes, usually that get to about 5-6 feet tall. They are less prickly and viney than raspberries too, making them easier to pick. 🙂

      We have an apple tree in the front yard and one of my favorite things about it is that we have met more neighbors because of it. 🙂

  11. Watership Down is one of my favorite books, too! I need to do a re-read. Every time I open a box of books in our storage room I am hoping to find the old beat up paperback I read when I was in college. I would love to use it for IG photos. That and my old paperback of To Kill a Mockingbird are hiding from me very well! 📚

    I love that you planted trees for arbor day! I hope the blueberry bushes are quick to mature, so you can enjoy the fruit next year. 🌳

    1. I am on my third copy! I wish I had my original too, but it fell to pieces. 😦 Your old copy would definitely make a great IG photo. 🙂 You do a fab job with your bookstagram posts!

  13. That sounds fun to see a bunch of vintage campers. Around here, there are many vintage cars about. One of our districts is a historic one also. I love that you bought blueberry bushes; it is on my wish list to have two in our backyard when it’s fixed up one day. Lemon trees are very popular here. My neighbor gave us a lemon the size of a child’s head; her tree naturally grows a few like these every year.

    1. I am sure you guys have so many vintage cars, the weather is so nice year round! I love those old historic housing districts, we usually tootle around them on rainy days. Lol.

      I am so excited about our blueberry bushes! And that is what we planted, two. 🙂 I would love a lemon tree!! However, wrong environment over here. Lol. Although, I think I could have a teeny one that could be inside? Holy cow that is a huge lemon!!!!! What did you do with it? How awesome!
