My Sunday-Monday Post

My Sunday Post is hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date

Hey all! I hope you have all had a great week! Ours was just a basic week lol. We did start the week with a Full Moon Family Dinner with my brother, sister-in-law, and niece, which was a lot of fun! The kids played, there was food and drink and conversation – not a bad way to spend a wintry night. -And we have many more wintry nights on the way! Winter took its time getting to my part of Michigan, but this week it is going to hit us like a hammer! Snow last night, another 5-7 inches expected Monday, then the artic polar vortex swoops in giving us awesome temperatures like -40. I am sure the boy and I will be spending much of our time huddled inside against the weather. I went to the library to stock up on books for the week, and have been planning different things for us to do indoors – it will be a long time in the house for us if we get those temps. Good thing we all like to read!

Read Last Week:

Two very different books but I loved them both. The Ash Family was crazy and intense and I didn’t want to put it down. The Wood was amazing as well, in the way that all of John Lewis-Stempel’s books are.

Reading This Week:

Apparently my reading this week is taking me to snowy cold Russia. Perfect for the weather we are going to have this week! I’m not sure I am emotionally ready for the tween book The Wolf Wilder – I usually don’t read books with animals the main focus because I sob if any of them are injured or die. I’ll let you know how I do, if this is a trigger for you too!

Posted Last Week:

This journey began with a bear – a little post filled with my musings about nature writing sprinkled throughout with references to different books

Watching:

Grace and Frankie, Outlander, Schitt’s Creek, Top Chef, Hometown, and we are waiting for tomorrow’s episode of Agatha Raisin!

How about all of you? What’s been happening in your neighborhood?

  1. The weather that’s on the way does not look fun, that’s for sure! Hope you guys stay warm and safe. We’re going to hunker down over here too and hopefully it won’t be TOO bad, but those temps do not sound fun.

I haven’t seen Agatha Raisin- I’ll have to look it up!

Most of the snow missed us but we’re in the path for the cold too. I didn’t need to go out to stock up on reading material though. I have a couple thousand unread books at my house between my physical and Kindle TBR piles. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  3. I love the idea of a Full Moon Family Dinner! What fun! It’s cold here and we were actually supposed to get snow (very rare in Alabama) but it apparently just missed us (not so rare). Now it feels like a vacation day because the schools and a lot of the businesses closed preemptively! The Katherine Arden series is on my TBR. I got the first book on Audible and am hoping to listen to it soon. Sounds perfect for cold weather! Have a great week!

    1. LOL that sounds like it was a great lucky break! No snow, and the day off! We got hit by a bunch of snow, but the worst is yet to come, the super cold air from the arctic, which shouldn’t be a thing here. Lol. My books are really good though, and that is making it better. The Arden series is so good!!

  4. Oh boy I keep seeing articles about the midwest and how the storm is coming after endless snow. Glad you stocked up from the library. No snow days here I’m afraid and the wind storms haven’t done that much damage to close schools. Glad we got those trees cut down as they could have done damage to our roof with all of these high winds that hit the Bay Area.

    1. Yikes!!! Glad to hear that you guys are all well and no wind damage!

Yeah, this weather is nutso! We have a ton of books for Wyatt, and some different activities in mind to keep busy indoors throughout this cold polar vortex. I have battened down our hatches!

  5. The John Lewis-Stempel books have been all over Instagram. I want to get to one soon. The covers are all gorgeous, too. 💜

I loved The Winter of the Witch! The second book in the trilogy was my favorite, but all of them were great. ❄❄❄,

Minus 29° was our lowest. I retired on January first and I have been very thankful that I don’t have to go out in it. I hope you had a wonderful week cuddled inside. 🌞

    1. I am obsessed with John Lewis-Stempel and nature books right now! He writes so poetically, and you are right the covers are gorgeous.

Being stuck inside for a week with my three year old didn’t leave much time for me to read. 😦 I am hoping to finally start Witch of Winter tomorrow.

Yes it was a great week to not have to go out! My husband had to leave in -40 temps one morning and I felt horrible about it. 😦 Wyatt and I had a good time being lazy and keeping warm though.
