It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date

Hi everyone! Happy Monday! I took a bit of an unplanned social media break over the holidays – the boyo was home, and it was pretty much madness around here. We got involved in some home projects that took up a lot of our time, Wyatt was sick (again!), but it seems like we are getting back on track finally. I have so much catching up to do now, in every other area of my life!! Lol.

Reading This Week:

I am almost done! I haven’t had too much time to read, but this time around I am really enjoying this book and character. Third time’s a charm!

When I finish Anne, I have a few review books I need to get to ASAP, starting with The Best of Us by Robyn Carr. I hope to finish and review it in the next few days.

Watching:

We have been watching A Series of Unfortunate Events, Agatha Raisin, and Watership Down. Watership Down is my all time favorite book. I read it once a year, I love it to pieces. However, I am not super keen on this new animated show on Netflix. It’s hard when you know a story backwards and forwards and then it is changed for the screen. I think if I wasn’t a super fan I would like it more. 🙂

How about all of you? What’s going on in your world?

  1. I was curious about Watership Down when it showed up on my Netflix loading screen. I’ve never read the book but it sounds kinda good. I was tempted top add it to the queue but maybe I’ll make myself read the book first…

    Happy Monday!

    1. I read it a million years ago for the first time, and just fell in love with these characters.I know a lot of people are like, ugh talking rabbits, but I don’t mind that. 🙂 The Netflix show isn’t bad per se, it just has some changes from the book, which is hard for me since I can recite that book practically by now. Lol.

    1. I did love it!! I have never read it, and the first two times I tried to read it, I couldn’t get into it. Anne drove me a little nuts, honestly. But then I just tried again, and this time, I got it. I loved Anne, and can’t wait to read the next book. 🙂

  2. I hope all the illness flees your home completely this week! 😷

I participated in an Anne of Green Gables read-along a couple of years ago and loved revisiting the story. It had been a looooooong time since I had read it. I was going to keep going with the rest of the books, but review books got in the way. 📚

I also love Watership Down. I have only read it a couple of times, though. I need to do a re-read again. Have you seen the 1978 animated film? I really liked that one. I haven’t seen the Netflix version, and from the reviews I’ve been reading… I probably won’t.I

    Happy New Year. 🎉

    1. Thank you! I hope so too!! I have been cleaning and disinfecting like crazy around here.

This was my first time reading Anne and finishing it – the first two times I tried and failed. She drove me crazy at first. This time around though, I loved her. I really do want to keep reading on in the series as well. 🙂

I watched the 1978 version when I was really little and it scared the crap out of me! Lol. I am pretty sure I was traumatized. We have just watched the first part of Watership Down – while it is not the same exactly as my beloved book, if I were to just watch it without having read it, I would probably like it. Does that make sense? It’s not terrible, but…it’s not the same. 🙂

  3. Wow, didn’t know Watership Down had an animated show; how interesting. I got dinner on the stove right now – eating what’s in the freezer = Bibigo Mandu and Ling Ling Spring Rolls with brown rice flavored by beef broth in the rice cooker.

  4. I can just imagine how busy you’ve been, with the holidays and a sick little boy! I have my eye on that Robyn Carr, hope you enjoy it.
And Watership Down… I read that so many years ago, probably in the late ’70s (is it really that long ago? wow) My brother had the paperback and I remember enjoying it, but I hate when movies are made from favorite books and then change it all up 😦

    1. It’s been crazy! And of course, I inevitably got sick as well. Lol. I have spent the past three days feeling miserable, but I am on the mend.

I love Watership Down so much! It is such a complete little world, so well thought out, with sympathetic characters and oh I could go on and on. Lol. But you know, you have read it too. It is so hard when favorites are turned into movies or shows – sometimes they are done so well, other times, not so much. 😦

And I just posted a giveway on my new post for that Robyn Carr book! 🙂
